Doctor Vuocolo, has been a practicing General surgeon for 27 years, and a Health Care Executive for 20 years in many different roles including two years as the President and CEO of the former Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont Minnesota and two years as the Chief Medical Officer at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough New Hampshire. Dr. Vuocolo received a BS degree in Biology from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York in 1979, and his MD degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse New York in 1983. He completed a five-year residency in General Surgery and a year of research in Cardiovascular Physiology at the University Hospital in Syracuse in 1989. Dr. Vuocolo served in the Navy Reserve and was stationed on the Hospital Ship USNS Comfort in the Persian Gulf during the 1990-1991 Persian Gulf War. He became an Air Force / Air National Guard Flight Surgeon in 1994 and flew many missions on multiple aircraft such as the F 16 and the KC 135 tanker, including 16 combat missions over Iraq in Operation Provide Comfort II in 1995.  Dr. Vuocolo has been a vocal proponent of improving Patient Safety and Health Care Quality by using Aviation Safety and High Reliability methodologies, and stresses these methods as an Health Care Executive.
