POSITION:            Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)/ Chief Operating Officer (COO)

General Responsibilities:

The CNO/COO will provide leadership and direction in planning, developing, evaluating, and directing patient care services. Responsible for developing, implementing and organizing the patient care structure. Responsible for networking and interacting effectively with all departments and staff levels to meet hospital goals and objectives.  Ensures that patient care and practice are “Evidenced Based” and consistent with internal and external policies, meeting all State and Federal Regulations.

The CNO/COO will assist the CEO in providing the oversight, and leadership, necessary to ensure the proper operational controls, services, reporting procedures, systems and teams are in place to effectively ensure the quality, safety, financial strength, growth, and operating efficiency of CCMH. Works closely with the CEO, Medical Staff, Management Team and Regulatory Agencies to assure CCMH is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Work closely with the CEO and Physician Group (Montevideo Clinic P.A.) to assure major decisions related to Physician Group are reached through collaborative efforts, with ultimate direction by the CEO. Maintain broad responsibilities for the administrative, financial, human resources, third party contracting, compensation, planning and development functions of the clinic medical practices.


Education/Experience: Bachelors of Science in nursing requiredMasters in Health Care Related Field Required

  • Experience in the principles of personnel administration regarding the selection and placement of employees.
  • Strong mentoring abilities, and a successful track record of management in a progressive environment.
  • Strategic and operational planning skills with the ability to follow through and carry out the hospital’s mission.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, motivate and evaluate staff while providing safe, consistent and quality care to patients.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation skills, written communication and computer skills.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of healthcare administrative experience required. Successful in providing leadership in the management of hospital and health system operations.  Successful in building and maintaining positive and effective physician relations. Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate and relate well with staff at all levels of the organization.
