In The Beginning
Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital was founded in 1910 as a private, non-profit corporation at a site on North Sixth Street and Highway 7. When the doors opened to admit the hospital's first patients, the hospital's goal was to provide high quality health care in a responsible setting. Today, our current facility which is part of the Montevideo Clinic/Luther Haven Nursing Home/Copper Glen Complex at 824 North 11th Street, still has that goal as the prime motivator of the hospital and clinic's employees and medical staff.
In approximately 1947, the clinic was officially named the Montevideo Clinic and was located on the lower level of the First National Bank. During June of 1978, the Clinic moved into facilities attached to the hospital as the need for space increased. On January 1st, 2005, the Hospital purchased the clinic and combined operations.
